Another Durham fixture change

Durham's match with Surrey scheduled for August 14-17 has been bought forward a day to August 13-16. This is to give Durham a day off before the FTP final (Hants already have a week off). For TFC it means that the first day is now in the week before.

Derbys v Somerset (Fri)

Apologies, the Derbys v Somerset game did not get updated originally (about 2000) but has now been done.

Week 11 Score update and more new players

All predicted scores in weeks 10 and 11 have been confirmed correct. They've also added a further two bowlers to the game, as follows:

768 D A Griffiths Hampshire 2
769 D J Wainwright Yorkshire 1

Powell moves to Hants

West Indian DB Powell has moved to Hampshire for the rest of the season, replacing Stuart Clark. I assume that he's still available to be picked and have adjusted his county accordingly.

A few new players for week 11

Tele have added another four new players from today, ready for the championship matches starting tomorrow. As always, their previous 'points' had they been in the game from the start are now shown on the points page.

255 D J Redfern Derbyshire 2
256 M D Stoneman Durham 1
335 M W Barnes Warwickshire 2
468 A G Wakely Northamptonshire 3

Tonights score update

A grim day for TFC players today with play only possible in two matches. Sussex duly finished off ten-man Durham, while just four overs were possible at Taunton. All four overs were maidens, with only two leg byes being added to the Northants total. As none of this affects TFC points I have not updated this match to avoid every player being given 0 points and an extra day for PPD analysis.

The Indians have arrived

The Telegraph have added the details for 15 Indian players ready for the first test later this month. Rather than list the names, just click on TFC2007 then on the Ind button at the top of the screen for details. They've also added the Derbyshire wicketkeeper TJ Poynton, number 334, rating 4.

Warwickshire/Hampshire scores

There was a problem with some players from this match earlier today. They were repeating their scores from days 1 and 2 instead of the 4th day. I'm not sure what happened apart from the scorecard wasn't showing properly finished when I read it and the forfeited innings may have caused some confusion. It's all corrected now.

Worcs vs Kent Re-scheduled

In an unusual move the ECB have ordered the Worcestershire vs Kent to be re-scheduled from July 30th to August 3rd. There will be a day break on August 2nd while Worcestershire travel to Essex for a Pro40 match. Friday's Pro40 match with Hampshire has also been switched from New Road to Derby.

Week 9 Score Update

Back to the cricket and week 9 scores have now been confirmed. There was one error involving Ramprakash and Benning of Surrey. Ramps took a catch against Kent but the scorecards all mistook him for Benning! Yes, the Radio Kent commentators couldn't understand that either. So Ramps gains 5 points at the expense of Benning. All other scores ok.

TFFOSM Launched - but terrible news

The Telegraph have today launched TFFOSM and finally put up the conditions page for TFF. My worst fears are confirmed in that KCs are dead, it's just assists now, and only one per goal, with none for penalties. But that's nothing compared to the bombshell for TFFOSM ...

To play TFFOSM you must have a GB address! Yes, that's just England, Scotland and Wales. You can't even enter from the Isle of Man or Channel Islands, let alone Northern Ireland. What have they done? This game has always had a core of dedicated foreign entrants. I think it's terrible.

FISO Forum down

The admins are aware that the forum has been down since lunchtime and are chasing the relevant people to resolve the issue. They hope to be back up sometime this afternoon/evening.

Edit: The forum did come back up briefly between 4pm and 5pm, but is now down again.

Further Edit: The forum is apparently available to some people, but not others. The issue is to do with DNS. It doesn't seem as though there is anything you can do if you can't get through, apart from wait.

Twenty20 Quarter Final Line-Up

Three of last seasons finals day teams are out after the group stage, including the holders Leicestershire (though with 5 no-results they can certainly feel aggrieved by the weather). The home sides in the quarter-finals will be Nottinghamshire, Sussex, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire, while their opponents will come from Lancashire, Yorkshire, Kent and Worcestershire. One match is on July 17th with the other three a day later.

Duckworth Lewis in action

"Duckworth Lewis" - two words to fill many a cricketing captain with dread, especially with dark clouds looming and the prospect of a premature end to the innings. The formula is a complicated one based on runs scored to date (or required if chasing) and resources available (overs and wickets remaining). It tries to generate a fair result whenever the weather intervenes in a one-day cricket match. Further reading is available in this wikipedia article.

Last night I attended the Kent vs Middlesex Twenty20 match at Beckenham. As soon as the required minimum 5 overs had been bowled in the Middlesex innings the scoreboard kept the D/L target updated at the end of each over. Here is the progression of the target towards the normal requirement of 147 to win in 20 overs.

Overs left Wickets left Target
15 7 47
14 7 53
13 7 58
12 7 64
11 7 70
10 7 77
9 6 86
8 6 92
7 5 101
6 4 110
5 4 116
4 4 122
3 3 130
2 2 138

Sadly (for Middlesex) they lost their last two wickets in the 19th over, so I can't tell what the target might have been off the last over.

Blogger problems and other news

Alleluia!

After nearly a week, those nice chaps at Blogger have finally fixed the problem that prevented me posting updates. Here's a quick run-down of what's been happening.

TFC: Points continue to be updated nightly (but only after the last game has finished which can be nearly 11pm). The last few official updates have confirmed my provisional points spot on, except that the first International Twenty20 match didn't get bonus points added until the following night.

TFF: The player prices for the new season have been released already (although the terms and conditions have not yet been published). To help with selecting teams I've combined this seasons list with last seasons points and adjusted the PPM columns to reflect this seasons value. Obviously there is no data for new players, but then there is a school of thought that says untested players should be avoided at the start. I'm updating the list as often as I can - just click on the TFF2007-2008 button in the left sidebar.

This site: I'm at an advanced stage in integrating some new blogging software and I don't feel inclined to stop now just because Blogger is back. It will eliminate the dependance on an external supplier which must be good. Look out for a slightly new (hopefully improved) look in the next week or so. Finally, please continue to help this site by buying from our shop. Further details are on the About page.
