"Duckworth Lewis" - two words to fill many a cricketing captain with dread, especially with dark clouds looming and the prospect of a premature end to the innings. The formula is a complicated one based on runs scored to date (or required if chasing) and resources available (overs and wickets remaining). Last night I attended the Kent vs Middlesex Twenty20 match at Beckenham. As soon as the required minimum 5 overs had been bowled in the Middlesex innings the scoreboard kept the D/L target updated at the end of each over. Here is the progression of the target towards the normal requirement of 147 to win in 20 overs.
